More Rainy Day Fun!

WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!

YEAH....we booked our tickets for our 15th Anniversary trip! We will be staying in Cancun for 5 nights. I can't even believe how nice that place is! We have never stayed anywhere like that before. I have only been out of the country once.....to China. Of course I would love to go back to China to visit and also work in an orphanage for a few days (tomorrow works for me), but Cancun will be a wonderful vacation. Barry has been to Scotland and England, though. We can't wait to have one-on-one time alone for so many days in a row. It is getting harder around here to have a conversation without being interrupted. We love our 3 kids more than anything, but we value our time alone, too. We started dating when I was 15 and Barry was 16, so we had many years together before kids. Still, quiet time is needed.

Here is a link to where we will be staying in the early Fall.

I also booked my tickets last month for Marco Island, where I will once again spend a few days in November with some of my best friends that travelled with us to China to adopt our girls. Can't wait for that trip, too.

Brandon's Favorite!

I really do think that Brandon's favorite food in the whole world would have to be strawberries! He can go through an entire quart in no time.

Rainy Day Fun

I actually like some days in the summer like this. We have been enjoying the Sun Room when it hasn't been so hot. Today it is raining and the boys are at Track Camp, so Anna wanted to try out her ladybug umbrella that she got from the St. Louis Zoo last weekend. Most kids like to play in the rain, but she was a bit hesitant. She makes HUGE messes, yet doesn't like to get too messy at times.

Report Card Day

Today was Report Card Day and both of the boys earned all A's. Brandon actually got all A's the entire year of second grade. Logan got a couple b's this year in Math, but pulled it up to an A this quarter. Good job boys!

Trip to St. Louis

We had a fun Memorial Day Weekend. We went to Highland to Adam's (Barry's nephew) Graduation Party. Hard to believe that he is entering a new chapter in his life. We wish him well at College! That night we went to our Hotel in O'Fallon. It was a great new hotel for only $89 a night. They had free snacks when we arrived and also free alcoholic and soda drinks. The pool was small and freezing, but that didn't stop the kids from getting in. We visited the Zoo, an outlet mall and then the Spaghetti Factory for dinner. The day started out spitting rain and was chilly (only for Anna) and by the time we left the zoo, it was HOT! Yesterday we went to Barry's parents here in town and helped out with the yard and pool and had a nice lunch. The boys swam and cleaned the pool as they froze in it. There was no way that Anna was getting in that water. She would have been purple fast! Larry is doing better, but gets tired easily. He has a few weeks of radiation left and that will be affecting his fatigue and appetite.

School's Out!

Well, the boys are very excited to be out of school now! Three months of ice cream, swimming at their Grandparents pool, playing with friends, fishing, summer camps, and OH...did I mention me refereeing all the fighting amongst them??? I am sure it won't take them long to say those dreaded words...I'M BORED. Brandon will really miss school and even came into my room today at 6am to announce that it was his last day of school and he had tears in his eyes saying he would miss Mrs. Perry. She was a wonderful teacher and he had her completely fooled by his constant charm and sweetness. Brandon can be such a sweet boy at school and a bit devious at home.

We look forward to our days full of popsicles, parks, picnics and swimming, though, with added times of quiet reading.

I know it is shocking that there are no pictures. My Digital Rebel is in the shop. It seems that the shutter life is 10,000 pictures and, well, we just hit that. I have been using Logan's camera, but it just is not the same. My Diego pictures were taken with it.

I do have some pictures that my friend Jenny took of Anna, but I need to get her permission to share those here. They are good.

The kids are excited to go to cousin Adam's Graduation party this weekend and we have a hotel in St. Louis for one night. The kids are wanting to swim and maybe do the zoo or a children's museum.

Barry was gone Tues until this afternoon for a work trip so we are glad he is back! YEAH!
Happy Summer Days!

Diego Live!

Anna and I went to Peoria overnight and stayed at a hotel with Kailee and Robin. Kailee is from Anna's orphanage and is just a month older than Anna. We met Lisa and Abby for dinner and the next day we got to see Diego Live. Many of our friends were there! Three more girls from our travel group joined us and a couple more girls who families also used Lifelink Adoption. So....5 of the 10 girls from our travel group from Guiping! It was a fun day. We also got to visit in Tremont with my friend, Jenny. She has a photography business, so she took pictures of Anna and also Kailee.

Happy Mother's Day!

We had a beautiful day today at the park. We saw a lot of pretty flowers like this one and this shot turned out pretty good. I will post more pics later.

Water Play

Anna could play in the water all day. She loves to pour, measure and then do it all over again. I can't wait to see how she likes swimming again this summer at her grandparents' pool. I just could not resist taking a picture of Anna's teeny tiny tushie.

Fishin' Fun

I lost count at 10 fish for Logan and a couple less for Brandon, but the boys sure were catching the fish at my parents' pond today. Logan helped Anna catch one, too.

All this for $2.99! FUN!

Who had more fun? Barry or the boys? They had a blast with this water balloon launcher today!

I don't normally buy shirts with sayings or characters, but I thought this shirt was appropriate. We have 2 blue eyed boys and one brown eyed girl. What amazes me about pictures of Anna is that they often make her appear much bigger than she really is.

There are times that she eats like a horse and other times like a bird. The shirt above was a 4T so it could be washed and shrink some, too. The shorts, on the other hand were 24 months and they fell off her all day. I just can't buy the itty bitty shorts or they are just WAY TOO SHORT. So usually we settle in for the 12 month capris and we call them shorts. Or Grandma Judy fixes the bigger sizes that we buy. She has it down to a science!

We hope that our brown eyed girl gets over 26 pounds soon. She is now 3 years and a couple months old. Logan weighed more than that on his first birthday! Anna still eats odd at times. Very rarely will she eat something like bread for a sandwich. She just doesn't eat a lot of things with flour. If given a choice between chocolate cake and a fruit or veggie, she would simply eat the icing off the cake and then go for the nutritious stuff. She LOVES to eat butter or those fake tubs of fake butter. We are constantly catching her licking butter off her fingers. So....now if she is given a roll with tons of butter on it, she will eat it. She could also live on Fried Rice with Chinese veggies, too.

Honor Choir

This song was hilarious. All the boys had mustaches, but Logan and a few others them twisted up so funny. It was a real hoot!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

It has been a long time since I posted and we have really been doing a lot. It gets crazy in April in the Schmidt House with Easter and the boys' birthdays.

Logan turned 11 a couple of weeks ago. He had a nice quiet birthday this year. No party this year with friends. We did, however, have a couple of his buddies over that night for a little cookout with hamburgers, etc. Last week we went to Logan's concert at school and got to see him in his regular chorus and also his boys Honor Choir...yes, we go to see Logan get his groove on. It was a hoot.

The boys recently finished up the WOW choir program at church, too. The year ended with a Sunday program at church and a big bowling party.

On the 22nd we celebrated the boys' birthdays with their Grandparents and Aunt Julie, Aunt Lori and Kaitlyn. We had an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.....YUM!

Brandon had the privilege of celebrating his 8th birthday on Monday and he was SICK! It is now Wed. and he is still sick. He woke up with a sore throat Sunday and the doc in the box said it was not strep and he had no fever. So, the dr. there said we could go ahead and have his birthday party at the Bowling Alley with his buddies. Fever struck with a vengeance on Monday and is still here on Wednesday. His regular dr. said it was a nasty virus and fever would go up and down for 72 hours. YUK. He is hating the fact that he is missing school and Anna and I are getting tired of being stuck inside. The weather is nice, though, so we play in the sun room and sneak out back some, too. Brandon has bouts where he improves and wants to do a little homework and LOTS of crafty things and then gets worse again. Today was such a better day for him and then at supper, he got much worse again and the fever went up. We hope no one else gets it....especially our 26 pound Anna and also Grandpa, whose immune system isn't going to be very strong after all the surgeries and chemo.

I will post a TON of pics soon.
