Jericho, Jesus’ Temptation, Qumran, Dead Sea, onto Jerusalem and the Temple of David Light Show

Driving along

Matthew 4:11 tells of of the Temptation of Jesus

Can you imagine what temptations you might fall prey to if you were in a desert for 40 days? We have to remember to remain strong, even when tempted and to seek God. You will come out more faithful and stronger. I promise! Seem those words in the Bible.

We drove along through Jericho. Not a whole lot to see Joshua 6:20 tell us the following

We drove along through Jericho. We didn’t stop. This was the music 🎶 Zacheus was a wee little man tree music 🎵 and of course we sang the song. We did not have time to stop here, but we found an EO trusted shop with lots of goodies to put on the suitcase like pottery and glassware.

Fruit trees next to our lunch spot

Qumran Park is located in the northwestern shore of the Dead Sea. Scrolls were found in 1947, 1951 and 1956. The last was found in 1995.

Dead Sea Scrolls were  found here. The most important archeological find as it proves the validity of the Bible.  The Shepard’s actually found the scrolls, which include the Old Testament. They had been preserved in jars for 2000 years. In cave four, scrolls were found in thousands of pieces.

I took notice that the terrain was changing. No fruit trees here. We are getting closer and closer to the Dead Sea, the lowest place/point on earth.

Again, lots of different soils here and I once again reflected on that. Four different soils. Solid, Rocky, thorny or rich soil. Which soil does your soil have? We need the best harvest so we need the best soil

Fourth cave where a scroll was found in thousands of pieces.

High point here is Samaria

We have seen different types of water on this trip. Living, Still and Dead. We were asked to reflect on this. What type of water are you ? Living? Still? Or Dead?  Can you be like living water for Christ? I do not want to be like dead water, do you?

Salt crystals from Dead Sea. There is 30% more salt in here and there were lots of warnings posted like “don’t get salt in your eyes, no floating on your stomach, no salt in mouth.”

Light and Sound Show was at the Tower of David

This is before the show started. The walls were transformed into a beautiful light show. It was sooooo cold outside, but we tried to enjoy through our exhaustion. Most of us were a little confused throughout the entire thing. Lol

It is always tough to put amazing days like this into words. We arrived at the Leonardo Jerusalem Hotel cold and completely exhausted, yet humbled by all of the beauty we had seen in yet another day in an amazing country. Everything has really started to click here. Everything, the places, the sites you read about in the Bible your entire life simply and magnificently comes to life. So hard to take it all in and all of these goosebump moments like being AT the very place where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Humbled tonight, feeling so blessed to be able to be here.
